Challenge and reflection for senior leaders and post-16 leads

 

This programme is aimed at current members of senior leadership teams or post-16 leads across phases. The programme provides an opportunity to network with other senior leaders and to reflect on your own practice and direction. Sessions will be themed and led by headteachers or senior leaders with expertise in a range of fields however sessions will be focused around group discussion and individual reflection.

The programme will run over four sessions. Each sessions will run from 4pm-5.30pm at Winterbourne Academy. Sessions 1 and 3 will be cross-phase sessions whilst sessions 2 and 4 will split into the following groups: primary; pastoral; curriculum, teaching & learning; post-16.

 

The programme includes topics such as:

 

- Reflecting on my actions and leadership approach.

- Challenge: what challenges are faced and what challenges have I set myself?

- How do I use research to inform whole school decisions?

- Curriculum intent, implementation and impact in my area of focus.

- Developing culture and getting buy in.

- Making an impact on the progress and experience of disadvantaged pupils and those with SEND.

Women into leadership programme 2019-20

The North Avon Teaching School Alliance has secured funding from the Leadership Equality and Diversity Fund to support women in primary, secondary and special schools in our area to progress with their careers. The ultimate aim is to increase the proportion of female Headteachers in the area.

Who is the course for?

The programme is targeted at senior leaders or very experienced middle leaders who have the potential to progress on to headship in the future.

There are 12 spaces on the programme each year.

 

What will the course involve?

Each participant will begin the programme with a Strength Scope 360 degree assessment and will receive one-to-one feedback at the end of November.

Participants will then take part in the following 3 days:

 

Day 1

5th December 2019

Leadership & me: intra-personal effectiveness

A full day covering: diversity of leadership; my purpose and guiding principles; confidence & resilience; making your application a success; career auditing& planning; coaching opportunities.

The day will also include lunch with Talking Heads.

Day 2

5th March 2020

Mock interview day

Participants will have a mock interview and written task to prepare participants for future applications. All interviews will be tailored appropriately for each participant.

Day 3

21st April 2020

Leaderships & others

A full day covering: managing work and home; key responsibilities of headship, accountability and dealing with the pressure; key responsibilities of leadership & leading high performance; authentic leadership & finding a voice; relationship management & influencing.

The day will also include lunch with Talking Heads.

 

All participants will also receive two one-to-one coaching and support sessions.

The programme will culminate in a twilight Women’s Network event on 9th June 2020.
