Metacognition

Metacognition led by The Blue School (Research School)

This training is in three parts:

4th February 2020   2.00 - 5.00 pm

18th March 2020   2.00 - 5.00 pm

7th May 2020   2.00 - 5.00 pm

The ‘metacognition and self-regulation’ strand of the EEF-Sutton Trust Teaching and Learning Toolkit has been accessed over 120,000 times. Clearly, there is a hunger to know more about metacognition than the well-used but obviously limited definition of it as ‘thinking about thinking’.

The recently published EEF ‘Metacognition and Self-regulation Guidance Report’ aims to make the research evidence on metacognition accessible and understood, as well as offering solutions to age-old problems like helping our pupils to prepare for exams, along with tackling an array of learning challenges, in the classroom and beyond.

Join us on this 3-session programme, delivered by West Somerset Research School to learn how to help your students plan, monitor and evaluate their own learning.

Leading from the Middle with Fiona Dorman

Leading from the Middle with Fiona Dorman

What does it mean to lead from the middle?

How do you feel about your leadership role - what do you think are your main priorities in your role?

How do you maximise your own strengths to lead in a way that suits you?

How do you develop others - have those tricky conversations etc. If effective leadership is primarily about communication - how do you score?
