Engaging with Whole School SEND and training as a SEND reviewer 13.03.20

Engaging with Whole School SEND and training as a SEND reviewer.

An opportunity to engage with Whole School SEND with a focus on the SEND review guide.

The SEND Review Guide was created with the purpose of empowering schools to improve their SEND provision.
The review guide outlines a step-by-step audit process, including examples of good practice, guidance on how to carry out a review of SEND provision and simple self-evaluation templates.

The guide helps schools to identify areas for improvement within their SEND provision; equip the school to review and create improvement plans for SEND provision and help embed a focus on SEND into normal school improvement practices.

One-day SEND Reviewer training takes attendees through the stages needed to prepare for the review, the SEND review itself and to feedback outcomes of the review with confidence. Attendees will work with the trainer to go through the guide and discuss how the review can benefit an individual school and how it can be adopted to be used in school to school support.

This training is open only to SLEs, LLEs, NLEs and experienced SENCOs.

Attendees with need to bring a copy of the SEND Review Guide which can be downloaded from and are encouraged to join the community of practice.

Louise Bomber 20.03.20

We all need to learn the art of regulation. We have pupils in our schools who have experienced toxic stress and have faulty neuroception. We need to be resourced with interventions which calm and soothe minds and bodies.

Felt safety is needed in order to optimise the social engagement system and to take the risks required in learning. Let’s honour how bodies and minds function best and ensure our schools are places whose policies and practices reflect the latest research in neuroscience.

Louise Bombèr has worked with individual pupils, classes, whole school settings, local authorities, teachers and support staff across both the primary and secondary phases.

Louise and her team offer a range of services supporting children and young people who have experienced significant relational traumas to move towards learned security and recovery.

She is the author of the very popular book Inside I’m Hurting, as well as What About Me? Louise is a strong advocate for attachment aware and trauma informed interventions within education, as at present many pupils who have experienced toxic stress are misunderstood and even excluded from schools.

This course scored 9.7 out of 10 last year

Such a privilege to listen and learn from Louise.”
“Thank you, a really informative and inspiring day with a positive message of change can happen.”
