Foundation Governor Training (evening session)

This session will be led by David Williams, Assistant Director School Effectiveness, Diocese of Bath and Wells, Rev'd Fran Binding, Rector All Saints Church, Wraxall and Amy Townsend, Headteacher Wraxall CE Primary School

A representative from each Church of England School, the Chair of Governors (even if not the Foundation Governor) and the headteacher should attend where possible.

The session will include:

  1. What the role means and how a Foundation Governor (Member/Trustee) stays up to date and influences the culture of the school. 
  2. Christian vision, values and ethos – what this looks like in a fully inclusive church school.
  3. A case study from Wraxall CE primary school – i.e. what they do.
  4. Some time for Foundation governors to share how they do things in their school and governing body.

 This training is being repeated on 12 February 2020.

Refreshments will be provided.  Parking is available in the car park opposite the entrance to the Churchyard.

Team Teach - Level One - mop-up session

This session is for all staff (teaching or non-teaching) who deal with complaints. The session covers the stages of complaint handling; how to deal with a complaint; how to fact-find and an exploration of different scenarios.

Child protection training for new school staff - Term 4


The course is for new starters to the Olympus Academy Trust or other schools in South Gloucestershire if required. The course is delivered by Richard Clark who is Headteacher at Callicroft Primary School and a South Gloucestershire Local Authority approved safeguarding trainer.


The session covers:


    • Keeping Children Safe in Education

    • FGM

    • A range of safeguarding issues

    • How to manage children’s concerns from a safeguarding perspective


This course would cover the content required in schools which is usually delivered by a designated safeguarding officer.
