Collaborative planning group: health & social care

 

This secondary collaborative planning group provides an opportunity for health & social care teachers to co-plan, share resources and explore how research can inform teaching and learning in the subject.

 

Each of the four sessions will run from 4pm-5.30pm at Winterbourne Academy. Please make a note in your diary of all dates:

Challenge and reflection: effectively deploying TAs in my classroom

 

This cross-phase programme is aimed at teachers who have support from TAs within their classes. The EEF Toolkit shows that the way that the impact of TAs varies depending on the way they are deployed. This programme is an opportunity to reflect on what is or isn’t currently working and trial and review different ways of working in order to maximise the impact of additional adults in your classroom.

 

The programme will run over four sessions. Each sessions will run from 4pm-5.30pm at Winterbourne Academy. Please make a note in your diary of all dates:

This secondary making every lesson count programme includes four teaching and learning sessions tailored to drama.

 

The programme covers the following areas:

- Make learning stick!  How to maximise learning in your subject through cognitive science.  This includes the effective use of modelling, interleaving, low stakes, quizzes, spacing, the effective use of graphics and so forth.

- Get the meaning?  This session will focus on maximising learning using disciplinary literacy in lessons. For example, how do you make sure learners understand key terms in a range of contexts?  How can learners work out the meaning of words themselves using etymology?  Can learners grasp different text structures and features in my subect?

- How do I provide effective feedback and still have a life?  The session focuses on AfL and effective feedback whilst managing teacher workload.

- The group will collectively decide whether to use the final session as a teachmeet or subject knowledge session.
