Developing coaching programme

 

This cross-phase programme is aimed at teachers and support staff who have a responsibility for the performance of other staff and would like to develop their coaching skills. It is expected that participants actively apply learnings from the programme within their roles.

 

By the end of the course, delegates will:

 

  • be confident in providing feedback from lesson observations to colleagues

  • have the tools to provide evidence from lesson observation to spark professional dialogue

  • develop the skills of live coaching to bring about immediate change, be introduced to, and have the chance to practise, the skills of solutions focused coaching

  • have considered how they might approach the development of staff with different levels of skill and motivation

 

The programme will run over four sessions. Each sessions will run from 4pm-5.30pm at Winterbourne Academy. Please make a note in your diary of all dates:

Implementing the CSET or Olympus way for primary middle leaders

 

This primary programme is middle leaders within CSET or Olympus Academy Trust. The programme provides guidance aboutthe role of middle leaders in effective implementation of Trust policy and plans within their own schools.

MELC in science (chemistry)

 

This secondary making every lesson count programme includes four teaching and learning sessions tailored to science with a focus on chemistry.

 

The programme covers the following areas:

- Make learning stick!  How to maximise learning in your subject through cognitive science.  This includes the effective use of modelling, interleaving, low stakes, quizzes, spacing, the effective use of graphics and so forth.

- Get the meaning?  This session will focus on maximising learning using disciplinary literacy in lessons. For example, how do you make sure learners understand key terms in a range of contexts?  How can learners work out the meaning of words themselves using etymology?  Can learners grasp different text structures and features in my subect?

- How do I provide effective feedback and still have a life?  The session focuses on AfL and effective feedback whilst managing teacher workload.

- The group will collectively decide whether to use the final session as a teachmeet or subject knowledge session.
